Dear ICSM 2008 delegate:

As previously informed, the proceedings of ICSM 2008 will be published as a special volume of Synthetic Metals. Those interested in submitting their contribution are welcomed to do so, observing the following guidelines:
- all manuscripts will be submitted to regular peer review analysis to assure the high quality standard of Synthetic Metals journal; in the average, this means that only the top 1/3 of the submitted contributions are accepted for publication;
- all submitted manuscripts must describe original contributions that have not been published elsewhere nor appeared previously as part of any other conference proceedings;
- the submission, review and decision process will be managed entirely online using the through Elsevier Editorial System. Up to July 26, 2008 manuscripts can be submitted at http://ees.elsevier.com/SYNMET;
- to ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the ICSM 2008 special issue, submitting author must select International Conference on Science and Technology of Synthetic Metals 2008 when the "Article Type" step is reached in the submission process;
- due to the existence of a limit on the total number of pages for the ICSM 2008 proceedings, an editorial decision will be eventually made to select from the submitted manuscripts those considered to be the most relevant contributions; as such, although all ICSM 2008 delegates are stimulated to submit their contributions, priority will be given to submissions presented by keynote lecturers, highlighted invited speakers, and invited speakers, as well as those related to regular oral communications;
- manuscripts of ICSM 2008 keynote speakers and highlighted invited speakers have a higher size limit of 2,400 words (including title, authors & affiliation, abstract, text and references) plus up to 4 single panel figures or tables (each single panel figure/table is considered as equivalent to 180 words); in the total this should correspond to 4 printed journal pages;
- manuscripts of regular ICSM 2008 contributions have a size limit of 1,800 words (including title, authors & affiliation, abstract, text and references) plus up to 3 single panel figures or tables (each single panel figure/table is considered as equivalent to 180 words); in the total this should correspond to 3 printed journal pages;
- we regret that, due to the tight editorial chronogram to be followed, contributions that for any scientific or technical reason receive a review recommendation of “major revision” will be automatically rejected.
